The automotive industry will soon benefit from new high-quality seat covers, thanks to a recently inaugurated Faurecia factory, in Romania.
Specifically, Faurecia company employees working at the Râmnicu Vâlcea production plant in Romania will be able to make high-quality seat covers for approximately 280.000 vehicles, by the end of this year. Moreover, the factory will be able to manufacture more than 500 types of seat covers, using different colors, patterns and materials. According to the Executive Vice President of Faurecia Automotive Seating, Hagen Wiesner, the production numbers are to be made possible thanks to a 12 million Euro (54,39 million Ron) in what is now the company’s most advanced facility.
An industry encouraged by local production
Râmnicu Vâlcea factory workers mostly rely on locally-produced fabrics, in a variety of textures. Approximately 75% of all fabrics used by Faurecia in the Romanian plant come from local suppliers. Also, most of the finished products will go to major automotive manufacturing companies such as Peugeot, Renault and several vehicle brands under the Volkswagen parent company.
A new state of the art facility
The latest factory from Faurecia, located in the Romanian city of Râmnicu Vâlcea, has a total surface of 12.000 square meters, with 1.200 people currently employed. The plant works with modern manufacturing equipment and uses advanced and efficient ventilation systems. Employees also benefit from a complex 4-week training program, to improve their skills. The new modern facility was inaugurated on September 20th, 2016, in the presence of Romanian Vice Prime Minister Costin Borc, as well as company management and employees. This new Faurecia facility is no. 4 to be inaugurated in the country and the second in Romania to produce seat covers. The company also has one factory in Craiova – for Emissions Control Technologies, one in Pitești – for Interior Systems and another in Tălmaciu – for Automotive Seating Covers.
Another chance for improvement
The Romanian production plant employs 1.200 people, 700 of which were hired as a result of the mentioned 12 million Euro investment. Moreover, company Executive Vice President Wiesner wants to increase these numbers to approximately 1.800, by 2017.
