Lufthansa Technik is planning to build a center for aircraft engines repair and maintenance in the Hungarian town of Miskolc.

The new building will receive Lufthansa planes, as well as those of other airlines. The company, which is part of the Lufthansa Group, a well-known German aviation name, specializes in airplane engine construction, as well as the necessary maintenance services.

The Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjjártó, who participated at a joint press conference with some of Lufthansa Technik’s representatives, talked about the opportunity to expand Lufthansa Technik’s business into Miskolc: ‘On the one hand, this decision once more proves the attractiveness of our business location. On the other hand, it also recognizes the enormous amount of commitment of the people in Miskolc.’

Furthermore, to encourage collaboration between the Government and the people at Lufthansa, the Government will be launching and financing programmes for technical workers.

Lufthansa Technik is willing to invest 43 billion HUF (131.62 million EUR) in the new centre, which will create 400 jobs. Construction at the new site is expected to start in 2021.
