Romanian I&C retailer Altex invests big in logistics
Altex Romania will be working out of a new logistics center, located near Romania’s capital city of Bucharest. The IT&C retailer acquired a new plot of land of 15.2 hectares in a village near Bucharest (Dragomirești Vale), for 5.5 million EUR. The new logistics hub will be built thanks to a 37 million EUR investment, which covers two main storage buildings with a total surface of 90,000 square meters and 46,000 square meters of external logistics platforms.
GSE Romania, a company chosen for its experience and innovative technical solutions, will handle the design and build portions of the project. The first stage will be 80% covered by EximBank and scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2019.
The second stage of the project will be developed later that year, thanks to a 15 million EUR investment for which Altex is looking for financing.
‘The new logistics center will bring together its operations scattered across four warehouses, thus offering better options for a wide range of products and services. This investment reduces operational costs, backing-up Altex’s promise for having low prices and a fine selection of merchandise’, according to the company’s CEO, Dan Ostahie.
The logistics center is designed to house all types of products, from electronics to IT and accessories. Due to its size, this facility will have 60 entry points, made to streamline operations.
