Adeplast now owned by Swiss chemicals manufacturer
A Swiss producer of specialty chemicals – Sika, has agreed to buy Adeplast, a Romanian manufacturer of mortars and thermal insulation solutions.
Sika made this latest acquisition to strengthen its position on the local construction chemicals market and also to widen its manufacturing portfolio, according to a company press release: „The improved access to the distribution channel will offer exciting cross-selling opportunities, increase our market penetration, and drive the continued growth of both companies”, according to Sika EMEA regional manager, Ivo Schadler.
Furthermore, the Adeplast facilities will help Sika better reach its clients and increase the company’s efficiency in logistics and warehousing.
Adeplast is a valuable addition to the Sika family, considering the company employs 460 people and generates annual sales of approximately 120 million Swiss Francs (note: a little over 109 million EUR): „We are convinced that Sika will […] take the company even further, as part of one of the leading groups in Europe in our industry”, according to Adeplast representative, Alexander Bărbuţ.
Adeplast’s headquarters is located in the Romanian city of Ploiești, 70 km north of the country’s capital city of Bucharest. The company produces building mortars and thermal insulation for building envelope solutions.
Sika is a specialty chemicals company, active in the development and production of systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protecting in the building sector and motor vehicle industry.
