An expert analysis concludes that transport companies in Ukraine managed to increase the volume of freight transported in the first seven months of 2019. According to a report by the State Statistics Service (Gosstat), 386.5 million tons of cargo were transported in Ukraine, between January-July 2019.
This results in an increase of 8.5%, compared to the same period of 2018. Several industries reported a decrease in their total volumes, such as forest products (59.5% less than in 2018), construction materials (22.8% less), iron scrap (16.4%), cement (5.8%), coal (5%) and iron metals (4%).
On the other hand, the transport of grain and cereal products increased by 24.8%, chemical and mineral fertilizers by 24%, petroleum and petroleum-based products by 6.4%, while iron and manganese ore increased by 4.7%.
