JYSK invests heavily in a new distribution center in Bulgaria
JYSK, the Scandinavian retailer specialized within sleeping and living, has begun the construction works for its new distribution center in Bozhuristhe, Bulgaria.
The ceremony of the first sod for the new logistics hub took plane on the 30th of May, in presence of local politicians, entrepreneurs and representatives from the top management of JYSK
The total investment is more than 100 million Euros, and just the automation part requires 13.000 man days, while the distribution center will create approximately 300 permanent jobs, once it is fully operational. The center will have 2 high bays, 166 meters long, 55 meters wide and 42.5 meters high with a combined capacity of 121.632 pallets.
The new distribution hub will help the retailer provide better service not only on the local market, but also in Romania, Greece and West Balkan area. The location will also have a significant environmental impact, as JYSK will save approx. 10 million trucking kilometers a year from goods sold in the Balkan area.
“Within the last year JYSK has doubled the number of stores in Bulgaria, and we expect to keep expanding our business. With a new distribution center in Bulgaria, we will be able to provide even better customer service, as we can reduce delivery time significantly. Not only towards our customers in Bulgaria, but also in Romania, Greece and all other countries in the Balkan area,” explains Country Manager for JYSK in Bulgaria, Alex Bratu.
The distribution center is expected to be ready for use in autumn of 2018
