According to recent announcements, the KMG International Group has decided to change its current management structure, with new names for its operations.
Specifically, the Group has appointed Cătălin Dumitru as the Senior Vice President for Operational Activities and Alexey Golovin as Vice President for Corporate Development and Strategy. As a result, the acting Senior Vice President, Azamat Zhangulov, was promoted to Senior Vice-President for Sales and Marketing within KazMunayGas. The latter company is the national oil and gas company for the state of Kazakhstan and the only shareholder of KMG International.
Talking about the recent appointments, the Chief Executive Officer of KMG International, Zhanat Tussupbekov, said: ‘Alexey Golovin and Cătălin Dumitru proved excellent management qualities and I am confident that from their new positions they will continue to significantly contribute to the group’s development’. He goes on to say that Cătălin Dumitru is an essential figure in the company, having contributed to a profitable business in the past three years. At the same time, Alexey Golovin was involved in several management positions within the group. Zhanat Tussupbekov also mentions Azamat Zhangulov as part of an excellent collaboration in the past four years.
Alexey Golovin had been the Managing Director for Strategy, at one point, and held different positions inside the company. These include being the Managing Director for Internal Communication and Corporate Development, as well as the Group Corporate Marketing and Communication Director. Mr. Golovin joined the KazMunayGas group of companies in 2008 and has been part of KMG International since 2009. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, as a result of the Executive MBA Essec & Mannheim program, having previously graduated from the Law Faculty “Adilet” (Kazakstan).
Cătălin Dumitru can pride himself with 23 years of professional experience. He has been part of KMG International, formerly known as the Rompetrol Group, since 2002. He was Chief Financial Officer for two companies of the Group. From his last position, as Vice President of Operations, he was responsible for the ‘operational activities trading and supply chain, refining and petrochemicals and retail’.
KMG International has officially been the new name of The Rompetrol Group N.V, since 2014. Rompetrol is the main brand of KMG International, used for various activities, such as refining and retail, in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Georgia. KMG International currently has over 7.000 employees and carries out operations in 11 European countries. In total, KMG has over 1.000 distribution points in Europe, under the Rompetrol brand.
In Romania, KMG owns the Petromidia Năvodari refinery, with an annual capacity of 5 million tons. It also controls the Vega Ploiești refinery and a network of ‘over 700 fuel supply points, 230 LPG stations, 9.000 gas cylinder distribution points, three LPG stations and 10 warehouses.
