ZF is opening a new factory for electric drives in Serbia
ZF Friedrichshafen AG expanded its E-Mobility division with a new factory in Serbia, designed to produce electric drives. Located 14 km North-East of Belgrade, the factory will manufacture electric motors, generators for hybrid and electric drives, transmission selectors and microswitches.
The site is already being prepped for the estimated increased demand for these parts. In fact, around 1,000 employees will be working at the Serbian plant, which is another testament to the increase in popularity of electric vehicles.
Besides the Eastern European development, the company is also building a production plant for electric drives in Hangzhou (south of Shanghai, China), which should go into operation in 2020.
‘With electromobility, ZF is paving the way for next generation mobility solutions and contributing to a reduction in worldwide vehicle emissions’, said a Member of the Board of Management at ZF, Michael Hankel.
Furthermore, ZF Friedrichshafen AG opened a new building for its administration, R&D and sales departments, located at the company’s divisional headquarters in Schweinfurt (Germany).
